Io collaborated with the property owner to plan the redevelopment of this rural site in order to accommodate a private school with an innovative maker philosophy. The owner wanted to keep the existing metal building and old wooden barn on the site. Io unified the disparate architectural elements on the site with a new classroom/shop building to mimic the massing and roofline of the existing shop. Inspiration for materials came from the existing barn. Together, the buildings frame a commons area with nature inspired play and agricultural components.
